Fix HP Wireless Sleep Mode No Wake UP Error

HP Online PC SupportProblem :

I have a newly installed HP 6500 wireless. Once it goes to sleep for some time (on the order of hours), it refuses to wake up. The power button and not other front panel button will bring it back to life, nor is it accessible via wireless. Only a power disconnect reboot will bring it back to life.

Running Linksys WRT150n locked in 802.11 g mode, WPA PSK TKIP, DHCP, uPNP disables, MAC filtered.

USB disconnected, DSL Frontier, filter in place.

Talked to the help desk for over an hour. Talking to the cat was about as effective as the help I received. Was told I shouldn't plug the printer into a commercial surge protector; I should only plug it directly into the wall. I did learn the 9# power button reset sequence.

Solution :

One side effect we've noticed with Apple's latest FW upgrade to their Airport Extreme wireless-routers is that our printers no longer get a default gateway IP address. This should only affect those printers that make outbound connections to the internet, as a some of our printers do.

When you set a static IP address in our printers, you'll need to set the subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0) and the default gateway IP (usually the base IP address of your network which is the printer's IP address with the last octet to 1).

I'm not sure if this is the issue you're seeing with your Officejet 6500, though setting a static IP address doesn't hurt as long as the printer is always left on.

Fix HP Wireless Error Unable to Communicate With The Device

Problem :

Problem with HP C4599 wireless printer sometimes wireless works and sometimes it doesnt 'solution center' shows it as connected. when doesnt work get status = 'Error - Printing' 'solution center' still shows as connected, but when try to get info, eg ink level, get "The computer is unable to establish 2-way communication with the device".

10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
11. Click "Next"
12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"

Fix HP LaserJet Not Printing Error

Problem :

I just recently uninstalled my Brother HL-1440 from my system running build 5384, and replaced it with an HP 1020 LJ. The problem I find is that the printing is quirky. Sometimes it will print, most times it will not. I typically find my print job in the printer status box labeled as LOCAL DOWNLEVEL DOCUMENT and the status is SPOOLING. It just sits there and does nothing. If I try to delete it, status changes to DELETING - SPOOLING and also it just sits there. I've found this to be the case with both the driver that came out of the box (XP driver) and the one that comes with Vista. I've also noticed that my Lexmark X7170 also does not print. The HP is on USB001 and Lexmark on USB002.

Solution :

Right-clicking on a BAT file with the above commands cut/pasted into it, and running it as Administrator seems to be flushing out the queue.

The odd thing, however, while it's cleared out the "local downlevel documents" from the queue, the tray icon still seems to think there's multiple documents in the queue - even when you open the queue and it shows there aren't any documents.

Still.. It IS faster than rebooting - or even logging off and back on.

Fix HP Wifi Printer Offline Error

Problem :

Installed software and followed all instructions selecting printer then wireless network and entering WEP security key. Software screen then tells you it is searching for printer wirelessly and says it cannot be found. Yet when I print the Wireless Network Test Report everything is perfect and it even congratulates me on a successful setupof my wireless printer. Try printing wirelessly and yes you guessed it my printer is offline. Anyone any thoughts?

Solution :

Check the following steps to fix hp wifi printer offline error

1. Insert the HP Photosmart Software CD in the computer CD-ROM drive.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.

When you are prompted, connect the HP All-in-One to the computer using the USB

setup cable included in the box. The HP All-in-One will attempt to connect to the

network. If the connection fails, follow the prompts to correct the problem, and then

try again.
3. When the setup is finished, you will be prompted to disconnect the USB cable and

test the wireless network connection. Once the HP All-in-One connects successfully

to the network, install the software on each computer that will use the device over the

network.

Fix Wifi Printer Access Error

Problem :

In my house, our printer (an HP DeskJet 5740) is attached to a wifi base station via a USB cable and accessed via a wifi connection. The printer is used predominantly by my wife, who uses a Mac laptop and a Airport express
wifi base station.

She had no problem finding the printer or completing the connection. It prints flawlessly. The printer has bee set up for "sharing". However, I cannot figure out how to find or connect to it.

I use her wifi connection without a problem every day. So, there should b no
Mac/Windows interoperability issue. Any thoughts? I have tried the add printer feature and used every path available with no luck.

Solution :

Check the following steps to solve Wifi Printer Access Error -

1. Determine the IP address of the printer - usually you can print a configuration page and find it there.

2. Start the Add Printer wizard. Do not select Network Printer - select Local Printer and clear any check boxes for auto detection.

3. Select Create new port - select Standard TCP/IP port and configure it with the IP address of the HP.

Fix HP Deskjet Wifi Printer Problems

Problem :

I can't get the printer to connect to the wireless network. The main problem is that the router don't have a WPS button. And i can't find any way to config the printer via the USB.

Solution :

1. Connect to the print own network via wifi.

2. Print out a report, to get the printers ip

3. Enter printer ip in a browser

4. Config the printer via the printer webserver, to make it connect to the right network.

5. Print out a new report, to check that it has connected to the right network.

6. Connect to normal network, and search for the printer and install drivers.

Fix HP Printer Not Visible Error

Problem :

I recently bought a new computer with windows 7 (32 bit) Pro. I installed the drivers for my HP laserjet 5000n. The printer works fine, however, I do not see the printer in the in control panel (Devices and Printers). I have 2 other printers that I would like to remove. They can only be seen when I select a printer when printing a document.

Solution :

I'm assuming you are connected to the parallel port. Right click on the computer and see if there is a Printer Properties menu item.

I've seen this when the parallel port is configured in a Legacy mode so the parallel device is just another part of the computer device (reconfigure the parallel system BIOS).

If you have more than one printer defined that uses the same port and same driver Devices and printers conciders this one device and the other queues are configurable in fly out menus off the primary device.

If you have Pro or Ultimate you can use the UI from the spooler team, launch printmanagement.msc to manage local printers.

Fix HP Printer System Error 010060

Problem :

When I first start up my plotter it comes up with SYSTEM ERROR 010060, after about a minute it continues to initialise and then says READY. When I try to plot a drawing it comes up with error 070020. The plot will start but the lines are staggard and sometimes it stops plotting and says switch off power and check cartridge path.
I have done a demo plot and all is fine. Any ideas?

Solution :

SYSTEM ERROR 010060 is a Primer Motor sensor problem, Sensor might be bad, motor might not be turning, cable could have failed, or main PCA might be bad.

070020 Is a drop detect sensor error, the sensor is part of the service station.

The check cartridge path indicates that the carriage rails need lubrication, use a light silicone or synthetic lubricant, (it could be other things, but this is the most likely), you also might need to replace the belt.

Fix Windows 7 Printer Sharing Error

Problem :

I am trying to install an HP laserjet 1320 printer connected to a Windows XP Pro 32 bit machine. Windows 7 goes out and tries to find the approriate drivers but reports that a suiable driver could not be found. The printer installs fine when connected to the Windows 7 machine via USB port. Downloaded and unzipeed the Universal print driver HP's site says is the correct driver - no luck. Tried installing using the share name - same error message.

Solution :

Before installing the driver, is suggest you open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features and delete the printer driver that is already installed.

Then, please install the downloaded driver. Most printer driver installation program will prompt that if you would like to install a local printer or a network shard printer. Then select the correct option and finish the installation.

If the driver installation program does not help in this, follow the steps below to add a shard printer.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.
2. Click Add a Printer.
3. Select "Add a local printer".
4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port.
5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format.

\\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer]

Then click Next.

6. Follow the instruction to finish the installation. During installing, choose the correct driver in the driver list.

Fix HP Printer Error Code 49.4c02

Problem :

I'm currently seeing the error on the same hardware, it is related to a pending print job on a machine connected to it, as soon as the printer inits, the job is sent to it and the 49.4c02 error pops up.

Solution :

1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory.
2. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on.
3. Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.)
4. If the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or printer.
5. Turn the printer off.
6. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in the lowest DIMM slot.)
7. Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
8. Turn the printer on.
9. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device.
10. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
11. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
12. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.
13. Replace the formatter.

This error is usually caused by a bad formatter board.

Fix Cannon Printer Error 0x00000721

Problem :

I have installed LB2900 Cannon printer in Windows 7 Ist working fine But i am not able to share in other windows 7 machine i am getting following error

Windows cannot connect to the printer

Operation failed with error 0x00000721

Solution :

There are two basic ways to make a printer available to the PCs on your home network:

  • Attach it directly to one computer and share it with all the others on a network.
  • Connect the printer as a stand-alone device on the network itself.

This article explains how to do both in Windows. However, you should always first consult the information that came with your model for specific installation and setup instructions.
Setting up a shared printer

Traditionally, the most common way to make a printer available to a home network has been to connect it to one of the PCs and then tell Windows to share it. This is called a shared printer.

The advantage of sharing a printer is that it works with any USB printer. The downside? The host PC always has to be powered up, otherwise the rest of the network won't be able to access the shared printer.

In previous versions of Windows, setting up a shared printer could sometimes be tricky. But a new home networking feature in Windows 7 called Windows HomeGroup has greatly simplified the process.

When a network is set up as a homegroup, printers and certain files are automatically shared. (To learn more about what homegroups do and how to create them, go to Windows Help online and search for "Windows HomeGroup: Recommended links.")

If you've already set up a homegroup and want to access a shared printer from another homegroup PC, just follow these steps:
To access a shared homegroup printer

If a printer connected to one of the computers in a homegroup is properly installed and turned on, you can access it from another homegroup computer by following these steps.

open Devices and Printers in Control Panel

Select the printer you want to install, and then click Install printer.
Note

After the printer is installed, you can access it through the Print dialog box in any program, just like a printer that is directly connected to your computer. The computer that the printer is connected to must be turned on to use the printer.

Setting up a network printer

Network printers—devices designed to connect directly to a computer network as a stand-alone device—were once found mostly in large offices. No more.

Printer makers are increasingly offering inexpensive inkjet and laser printers that are designed to serve as network printers on home networks. Network printers also have one big advantage over shared printers: they're always available.

There are two common types of network printers: wired and wireless.

Wired printers have an Ethernet port, which you connect to your router or hub via an Ethernet cable.

Wireless printers typically connect to your home network using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology.

Some printers offer both options. The instructions that came with your model should tell you exactly how to install it.
To install a network, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth printer

open Devices and Printers.

Click Add a printer.

In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

In the list of available printers, select the one you want to use, and then click Next.

If prompted, install the printer driver on your computer. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Complete the additional steps in the wizard, and then click Finish.
Tips
Make sure that you have permission to use these printers before adding them to the computer.

You can confirm the printer is working by printing a test page. For details, see Print a test page.

Fix Printer Spooler Service Error

Problem :

I have a Dell laptop with Windows XP and a HP 1012 Laserjet. The laserjet has been working fine and suddenly yesterday evening it stopped being able to print. I get the message: print spooler service is not running. I have tried a lot of things I found on the internet to get it going again but nothing has worked so far.

Solution :

- Turn off the printer

- Turn off the computer

- Turn on the computer and wait until it has completely loaded

- Turn on the printer

Once the printer has fully started, go into the driver's properties from the Printing and Faxing window and try to send a test page. If it still says the spooler is not running then in the Control Panel, open Adminstrative Tools and select Services. Scroll down the list and select Spooler - does it say started? If you right click on it, can you start it? If it's set to manual change it to Automatic. If it doesn't want to start or isn't in the list then you have an issue with your operating system. Check the MS knowledge base for help with spooler issues.

If it looks good and started and set to automatic and your printer still won't print then try this test. Open a word document and select print. Look for a small check box next to print to file. What this will do is spool out the document but then save it to the hard drive instead of sending it to the printer (it will ask you to name the file and give you a chance to save it to where you want). If this works with no errors then the issue is likely the printer.

If it's the printer then try a different cable, check to see if you can upgrade the firmware.

If print to file doesn't work, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Fix Print issue in Office 2010

Problem :

For some reason my copy of Office 2010 is printing everything in black and white (grayscale), it shows me the document the right way when I see the print preview, but when I send it to print it prints in B&W, I have not seen the option to change this in the print setup, so I don't think it's that, but if somebody knows how to get there to make sure it's not configured to print in grays I'd appreciate it.

Solution :

To access the Printer Properties, click on the Printer Properties link under the Printer selection area of the File>Print dialog.

It maybe that a new printer driver will be required to get the full functionality of the printer in Office 2010. For that, you would need to check on the printer manufacturer's website.

Fix Cannot Delete Network Printer Error

Problem :

I've been trying to remove a connection to a network printer (which I believe was installed via domain group policy) and am unable to delete the printer.

Solution :

Remove network printers from Windows using registry

Step 1: Click on Start, Run and then type in regedit and press Enter. This will open the registry editor.

regedit

Step 2: Navigate to the following key in the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER – Printers – Connections

Here you should now see a list of all network printers with the server name first, then a comma, and then the name of the actual printer.

remove printer from registry

Go ahead and click on the printer in the left menu and press the Delete button or right-click and choose Delete. But that’s not all! You have to delete the printer from one more location in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – SYSTEM – CurrentControlSet – Control – Print – Providers – LanMan Print Services – Servers – Printers

Now under the Printers key, you should be able to expand it and see the name of the print server that actually hosts the printer you want to delete. Go ahead and expand the print server key and delete the printer from the list.

cannot delete printer

Now close the registry editor and reboot your computer. The undeletable network printer should now be gone.
